And then the Fox arrives with Assignments: all the men will ride with him to battle the KIng’s Men who are looking for them, and Hubert and Captain Jean (Glynis Johns) will hide the baby in a secret compartment of a wine cart and drive the baby to safety at the Abbey. And his royal lineage can be easily proved: he has the royal birthmark on his royal posterior.ĭanny does a great number, “You’ll Never Outfox the Fox”, where he seems to dissolve and spread into more and more Foxes, thanks to his friends from the circus (Hermine’s Midgets). Though, unknown to him, the royal infant and now King is alive and well and living in the forest. See, the current king is a traitor who had the entire royal family killed and now calls himself King Roderick I (Cecil Parker). They have taken refuge in the forest with The Black Fox (Edward Ashley) and his Rugged Rogues who fight the false King and protect the real King, a baby. Danny is Hubert Hawkins, a medieval comedian and semi-acrobat who works with a troupe of midgets.
Set in a land not unlike England, in the time of Robin Hood, this is one funny film and has some great songs as well.
